Hexablate

The Habib ablator (Hexablate) range of devices are a new generation of products, later versions of which could expand the market for minimally
invasive treatment of tumours. Hexablate has a multiple array of needles
used to destroy or palliate solid organ tumours that currently are not
amenable to surgical removal. However, in contrast to current devices,
Hexablate has the advantages of being faster (because it is bipolar) and
being able to aspirate the tumour. In addition, whereas competing devices focus their energy on
the central necrotic (that is, dying) part of the tumour, the Hexablate delivers the energy to the
edge of the lesion where the viable cells that are most likely to metastasise are found. There are
three different devices for open, laparoscopic and percutaneous application.
